How will I make or install my DIY Theatre® do it yourself projection screen?
A DIY Theatre® projection screen is a kit that contains the special formulations required to build not just a projection screen but an active optical surface.
Tools Needed
You probably own all the tools needed to create your home theater screen surface. If not, just a few bucks at your locally hardware store will get you ready. They include a Drop Cloth, Roller, Roller Pan, and Masking Tape.

Begin your projector screen Optical Surface Application
Visual step by step overview >
Your kit will include three bottles of solution . . . The first will be a primer. You will apply this to the surface you have selected in the size and format you choose. Any size up to 150 diagonal. You will apply this with a specially designed roller cover that we provide and the roller handle and standard paint tray that you supply. This will be applied to your surface in the same fashion as you would use to paint your wall with a paint roller. After drying you will apply a second coat of the primer.
After the second primer coat is completely dried you will repeat the process using the second and third bottles, which contain the optical screen formulation. Using a measuring cup we provide in your kit; you will measure a specific amount of bottle 2 and pour into bottle 3. Mix bottle 3 by shaking and you are ready to apply your active surface using a second custom roller cover we provide. If you have further questions you may find the answers in our FAQ page. And, of course, we will be sending a very detailed instruction guide with the screen kit.
To complete your screen you will want to create a black border or frame. We do not supply these materials, as there are so many variations and personal tastes. But a black border is important to absorb the often-rough edges of the projected image. The most common and very simple option is to use a common trim or edge molding as you would find around a door. Paint it flat black and install it around the screen like a picture frame.
