Home Theater Screens by DIY Theatre®
Your Projection Screen Optical Surface Selection.
We are pleased to offer three distinct projection screen surfaces from which you may choose. Check the descriptions below and if you still can't decide which one is right for you then see a discussion of this in the FAQ section. All three screen surfaces share all the advantages of a DIY Theatre® screen as described in WHY DIY Projection Screens.
WHITE PLATINUM® Home Theater Screen
This screen material is designed for those who need or prefer a lower gain screen surface. There is just enough of our platinum particles to make your screen come alive while still keeping your gain at or below 1.1. You may use any of the three contrast levels with this surface and you can select the gain you prefer from .7 to 1.4 at the time you apply your screen. (Maximum gain for the HIGH CONTRAST option is 1.0) WHITE PLATINUM® has all the features and advantages described in WHY DIY Projection Screens including its safe soap and water clean up. Using non-interference pigment technology solves the color shift issue found in traditional projection screen products. You will find this screen looks as good without projection as it does when you watch your favorite movie or sport. You will observe a luster that is the hallmark of a DIY Theatre® projection screen. AUSTRALIAN OPAL® Home Theater Screen
This screen material is our most popular selection. This is our fleur-de-lis, a very elegant screen surface with a sparkle that is unequalled by any other. The gain range you will be able to select at the time you apply your screen is .7 to 1.9. (Maximum gain for the HIGH CONTRAST option is 1.3) AUSTRALIAN OPAL® has all the features and advantages described in WHY DIY Projection Screens including the technology that allows it to reflect a broader range of light spectrum than is known to be available on other types of projection screen surfaces. You can observe this yourself by using a UV light source like a black light. The surface will light up compared to other screen surfaces that will be totally black. They are incapable of reflecting the broader light spectrum. The opalescent particles have been engineered with a special cutting-edge coating. Look closely at the screen using a standard incandescent bulb (normal light bulbs and old style projection bulbs) and then using a halogen or metal halide light source as used by new projection technologies. You will see the difference. The sparkle of the screen surface will impress you and your friends. (Hint: the most popular contrast enhancement selected with an AUSTRALIAN OPAL® surface is MEDIUM CONTRAST) - BUY Home Theater SCREEN PRODUCTS
The Gain Range you may obtain with each of the above optical surfaces will be dependent on the contrast level you desire.
